WaterGEMS and WaterCAD

Updates to Automated Fire Flow

Further refinements to the automated fire flow workflow have been added to WaterGEMS and WaterCAD. The “Fire Flow Status” field has been added to the Fire Flow Node Table as a default. In addition, during a fire flow run the Fire Flow Node Table will be filtered to only display the nodes included in the Fire Flow Nodes pulldown menu in the Fire Flow alternative.

The Calculation Summary has also been updated to display fire flow statistics, such as the number of nodes that passed or failed. You can also directly access the Fire Flow Node Table and the Fire Flow Results Browser from the Calculation Summary during fire flow runs.

More information on these features and automated fire flow can be found here: Understanding Automated Fire Flow Results.

HAMMER

Updates to Extended Node reporting in Transient Results Viewer

Results for additional elements now available in the Extended Node Data tab of the Transient Results Viewer. This data was previously available in the Transient Analysis Detailed Report. With these results now available in the Transient Results Viewer, you can now more easily view these results in graphical and numerical formats.

The following elements and results have been included:

Air Valves - Air Volume, Air Head, and Free Air Flow Out

Valves - Valve Percentage Closure, HGL (To), HGL (From), and Flow

Surge Tanks - Level, Inflow, Spill Rate

More information on the Extended Node Data tab can be found here: How to view extended node transient results for HAMMER elements.

Storm-Sewer Products

MicroStation CONNECT Edition integration

SewerGEMS, CivilStorm, SeweCAD, and StormCAD will now integration with MicroStation CONNECT Edition. If a compatible version of MicroStation CONNECT Edition is already installed on the computer when you install the OpenFlows storm and sewer product, the products will automatically integrate. You can also integrate the products by running the “Integrate with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS” option from the Start menu on your computer.

All Products

AutoCAD 2022 integration

This release of the products will integrate with AutoCAD 2022.

Bing Maps transparency settings

You can now adjust the transparency of a Bing Maps background file. If you have an existing model, you will also be able to edit existing Bing Maps background to adjust the transparency.

See this link for more information on using Bing Maps background maps: Using Bing Maps as a Background.

Select toolbar placement maintained

The Select toolbar used in features like Active Topology selection and graphs will no longer reset to the middle of the drawing when it is opened. The location it was placed will be maintained on subsequent opening of the Select toolbar.

This release integrates with MicroStation V8i SELECTseries 10 and V8i SELECTseries 4. The storm and sewer products also support MicroStation CONNECT Edition.

This release supports integration with AutoCAD 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 (32 bit/64 bit).

WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS supports integration with ArcGIS Pro 2.6, 2.7, and 2.8. WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and HAMMER supports ArcMap integration supports up to version 10.8. See more on ArcGIS Pro integration here.

Models saved in earlier versions of the OpenFlows products can be opened other versions of 10.03.XX.XX.

As with all new versions, this release includes fixes to various user-reported issues from the previous release, providing an overall more stable experience.

WaterGEMS Users – 5 Reasons SewerGEMS will Make You Feel at Home

$

As a hydraulic modeler, you know the science behind conveying liquids through pipes and channels, and how it boils down to either pressure flow or open channel flow.

Water systems deal mainly with pressure flow because they rely on pressure – generated by a pump or the power of gravity, to get water to users. Sewer systems deal with pressure and open channel flow, as they are designed to convey wastewater via gravity as much as is topographically possible.

Clean or not-so-clean water, the hydraulic principles remain the same and, not surprisingly, so do the modeling tools, as is the case with OpenFlows WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS.

If you are a WaterGEMS user and ever wondered about its sibling product, SewerGEMS, read on to find out how similar these two products are!

Using Terrain Models for More Accurate Cover in Constraint Based Design

$

In storm and sewer systems with hilly terrain, depth of cover may vary significantly over the length of a pipe. Did you know that the CONNECT Edition of Bentley's OpenFlows storm and sewer products can use Terrain Models to capture more accurate change in cover along pipes, and consider it during constraint based design? This helps ensure that your cover constraints are met not just at the pipe ends, but along the entire pipe length. Watch the below short demonstration to see how.

Applicable Products: SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, StormCAD, CivilStorm: CONNECT Edition
